About
I am a huge proponent of moving more things to my phone for sheer convenience and when I had to come up with a project proposal as part of one of my master’s courses, I planned the design for a local coffee chain to create a mobile app. Bob, if you ever read this, let’s talk. I’d still love to create this idea!
Initially, I spent 2 weeks collecting user input from loyal Biggby customers. From this research, I developed a concept around creating a native app for the chain that would incorporate the following features, based on user feedback.
In summary, the average Biggby customer has the following traits:
- Is a 31-40 year old female
- Visits Biggby 1-2 times a week, on average
- Has a frequent-buyer card
- Receives Biggby’s e-wards via email
- Has a smart phone (iPhone was most used at the time of the research)
Features that these customers felt were most important or most desired in a mobile app include:
- Store locator
- Customer’s own frequent-buyer reward card
- Customer’s favorite drinks tracker
- Store menu
- E-wards available through the customer’s phone
Everything within the app would be branded with the Biggby brand and color palette, making it stand on its own. It would also mean some overhaul for the company to invest in readers to accept scans of a customer’s phone screen. Or, other methods of input could be looked into, but I think going back to the convenience factor, if I can just swipe my phone and things are taken care of, then I’m all for it.
